"The inspirations for my work come from the trees themselves. The shapes, textures and colors are controlled by nature. After mounting the wood on the lathe it takes over and directs its own design. There are times when I can add my personal touch to the beauty and artistry of these shapes. Woodturning, for me, is the perfect joining of art and the design. Transforming a rough piece of timber into finished object, whether it be functional or artistic, provides a satisfaction that I have not experienced in any other medium.
